One Last Shot

Today we went and visited a renal herbalist. We have known about this lady for a while but did not want to complicate things with what Dr. Quan was doing. She said that her concern is pulling the toxins out of Alex's system and reducing her nausea. The herbs that she is giving Alex will also pull some of the fluid off her lungs. She said that it is good that she is urinating still and has no fever. Alex has to drink 16 ounces of her herbal tea a day and get two enemas a day. The enema will help cleanse all the toxins out of her intestines. All the toxins will be excreted from Alex's body through diarreah. We know that that will become a problem for her. She said that Alex's lungs are a concern because they do not sound very good. We are cooking up the herbs tonight and are going to start administering the tea tomorrow morning.

The visit was very pain free for Alex. Dr. Ping Ping (yes, she is an actual doctor) took her blood pressure, temperature, looked at her nails, skin and tongue. She talked to us about Alex and told us what the herbs would do. Mom and I waited for her to "fix up" the herbs while Jessica and Dad loaded Alex up. We had no idea what to expect. About 10 minutes later she gave us 4 very aromatic bags full of herbs that had precise instructions on how to cook them up. We explained to Ping Ping how dire our situation was and the time frame we had been given for Alex. She was very positive with us and let us know that she would really work with us to help Alex.

We have nothing to lose here. One day ago we had no hope and true this may be false hope that we have now, but it is hope. We will exhaust every option possible for Alex so that we know that we tried. God has had a hand on us this entire journey and I know that He will continue to guide us and give us strength.
