Alex is still not eating. Her GI doctor has said that he may do a scope of her stomach to see if there is anything wrong. What he would really like to do is a study in which Alex eats and then she lies still on a table for 1 hour so that they can watch and see how her body digest the food. But here are the problems with this test. First and foremost Alex won't eat. This test requires that she eat at least 4 oz. of a soft food. Not going to happen. Second, she would never lie still for one hour unless she is under some form of sedation. Finally the thought of all this occurring makes Alex start gagging because she gets so nervous. So it would take A LOT of talking through to get her calm enough to do this test.
She is having a hard time getting in and out of the van. Mom has put in the paperwork to get her van converted to be handicap accessible but it takes 30 days just for the paperwork to go through. During this time mom is diligently tying to find a minivan that when all the paperwork goes through she will be able to have it converted to handicap accessible. With the minivan they will be able to convert it to where Alex can just drive her wheelchair right into the van. Currently she can not get in and out of the van without alot of hep. Which has required dad getting up with them in the morning of dialysis and helping Alex get in the van. He also must go up to the hospital whenever Alex is finished with dialysis and help her back into the van. So the sooner mom is able to get a new van the better it will be for everyone.
Alex is doing really good. Dialysis is going great. She just has to slowly build up her strength so that she will feel more like getting out of the house. All of the hurdles ahead of her are really molehills compared to the mountains that she has climbed in the past few months.

Hello, Alex. It is good to hear from you and to know that each day is better for you. I have been feeling puney the last week or so. I didn't go to the ballgame last night but Uncle James did. I hate to say but they lost their ballgame and it was Homecoming, too. Oh, well. Next Friday will be here before we know it and another game. Maybe they will win this one. I hope that everyone is doing well. Fall starts in just a day or so. I am ready for some cooler weather. I love Fall and the beautiful colors of the trees. Keep on keeping on. Love, Hugs and Prayers. Aunt Nell
