We win again!

When Alex last had her catheter "installed", there was some minor skin tear around the incision site due to her lack of protein in her diet. We have watched this tear site for a while and its always looked a little suspicious and prone to infection. On Saturday, mom noticed some of the area was open. She took Alex in to have it examined and they were able to see some of the catheter under the skin through the small opening. The surgeon suggested he remove the catheter altogether and install a new one. So Alex went in for surgery today at noon to have the catheter removed AGAIN and a new one installed. We didn't feel that this was 100% necessary and prayed that the surgeon would have a change of heart and just stitch the small opening back up. By the grace of God, he decided to only stitch it instead of replacing. That meant that Alex was only under a "twilight" sleep which is better than full out anaesthesia. She is in the hospital tonight but she will be coming home tomorrow.

After Alex woke up, mom noticed a syringe in her PIC line in her leg. The anasthesiologist had left a syringe with about 1 cc of meds in her leg! Of course, mom complained to the "important" people.

We still have the huge problem of her not eating. This is crazy that she won't eat. Please pray that she will as this is our only hope!

  1. Good Morning, Alex, We awakened this morning to a beautiful sunrise. I hope you have a great day. Sorry that you had to go back to the hospital. I know that Phineas will be looking forward to you coming back home today. Please give your mother and daddy a hug for me. I know they could use one. You are blessed to have such a wonderful, loving family. Have you baked any good cookies or brownies lately. Have you seen that new divided pan for brownies? You just pour in the batter and bake. There is a divider in the pan so that you don't even have to cut the brownies. Neat....Hope you get to feeling better...Thanksgiving is just down the road and we want some of your cookies. We are looking forward to seeing you then........Love, Hugs and Prayers...Aunt Nell
