Baby Steps

Today when Alex had her "food therapy" she did extremely well. She licked a donut and licked the butter off the roll. She ate one noodle with some butter on it. On Monday she is going to take a bite of roll and she can decide whether she wants to swallow it or spit it out. She will continue to take baby steps until she can fully adjust to eating.

Alex woke up at 2 this morning and stayed up until about 4. Mom had had enough she decided to do a little reverse psychology and told Alex it was morning and it was time to get up. She made Alex sit up and turned on the TV and lights in the room. Alex then decided that she was too tired to wake up....not so fast Alex!!! Mom told her she had slept long enough and she was not going back to sleep. Alex plead with mom that she was so tired, so Mom went to the bathroom and told Alex not to go to sleep while she was in there. When Mom got out of the bathroom Alex was sound asleep. She slept until after 11 this morning. She slept so well that she completely slept through dialysis this morning. She thought she was pulling one over on Mom but she was the one that got tricked.

On a side note Alex wants a Hannah Montana chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream cake for her birthday. If anyone knows where we can get that we would greatly appreciate it.

  1. Thank Goodness that Katy showed me how to get on the blog again. It is so good to hear that you are getting to eat real food again. That must be yummy. I fixed chalupas, fried chicken, purple hull peas, squash casserole, and mashed potatoes while Katy, Harrison, Emma and Taylor were here. Katy said those were some of her favorite foods. It kinda reminds me of some of the delicious dishes we have for Thanksgiving. Uncle James and I are going to Arkansas tomorrow. Curtis and Emily are singing at their church tomorrow. We will go to church with them and then go out for lunch. Emily is leaving for college on Monday. I am going to wish you a Happy Birthday today and every day until your Birthday. I love it that you are going to be fifteen. I was glad to hear that you had been able to take a "little trip" outside your room. Everyday is a little better. God loves you and so do we..................Aunt Nell

  2. Good Morning...We went to Arkansas yesterday and attended church services at Curtis's and Linda's new church building. It is so beautiful. Curtis and Emily sang "Me and God". Curtis was so nervous that he almost passed out. They sang real well. I guess they are on their way to Fayetteville this morning to get Emily settled into her new home at the University. She was so excited. Linda and Curtis are full of mixed emotions. They want Emily to go to college but they are sad that she will be so far away. Austin is delighted at the thought of being an "only" child. He has plans for Emily's room. I hope you are feeling better today. Happy Birthday in advance.........Love to you all. Aunt Nell
