It has been over 100 days since Alex enjoyed the taste of food, but today that changed. She was able to eat some noodle soup and said it felt so good on her tummy. Prior to her gallbladder removal, everything upset her stomach and she feared even the sight of food. It is such a blessing to have her eat some and hold it down. This is one step closer to going home. Each day we will continue to have her eat a little more. We are also working more with physical therapy. Hopefully tomorrow she will stand on her own a bit.
She is breathing completely on her own. Oxygen is available if needed but she is holding her own. Her voice is still scratchy but with time that will repair itself. Her sense of humor is better everyday. Yesterday, Mike and mom were sitting on the side of her bed next to her booty. She told them she felt gasey but they didn't seem to pay much attention. She let it loose and they took off running. Even Phinny got out of his kennel and ran to the other side of the room. Alex was laughing histarically. She probably got a good 10 minute laugh out of it. I think we all did!
Given the positive advances that she is making each day, there is rumor that she may go home next week! Woohoo! Having a goal for her and us will speed her recovery process!
Thank you for all of your prayers and please continue to pray for God's work to be done in her life and ours.
