Surgery was a success!

The surgery was a success. They were able to install a broviac catheter in her upper right thigh. The incision is at her groin which raises a concern. Her groin area is very sensitive and prone to infection. We will have to be extra careful with the cleanliness in order to reduce any infection. They have already transferred all meds from her hemo cath to the broviac cath. Her transport to and from the surgery was very smooth....much better than Tuesday's transfer. Her stats stayed stable and her blood pressure maintained itself.

They started her on a type of formula running through her nose. It's always good to have some type of substance flowing through her body. They also want to make sure that her abdomen muscles do not weaken.

Her CRP is down to 22...which shows that the infection is continuing to resolve itself. She has also maintained a low fever. Her ling doctor said it looks like she may be on the "up". Within the next few days they will start to slowly take her off the paralytic and begin waking her a little at a time. This could get crazy with her stubbornness and her lack of cooperation with the tube in her mouth. Until then, we will continue to watch her lungs, make adjustments to the ventilator and dialysize. Alex is a slow healer but we are patient!

She'll be back at home in no time! The Lord is strong and mighty and He is working in Alex's little body. I think she surprises the doctors everyday!
