One More Day

We were all so excited because we thought today was the big day!!! But it has been postponed until tomorrow at 3. Since she was not dialysized Saturday she has more fluid on her lungs then what they feel comfortable working. Dialysis was a great success and they were able to pull off almost 3 liters of fluid from her. I know many of you are thinking how does dialysis relate to her lungs. But dialysis pulls fluids off throughout her entire body. So the plan is to dialysize in the morning and then extubate her in the afternoon. It will be done in the O.R. so that they can ensure that if for any reason things go south they will be fully prepared.

She was so excited to have it pulled out today. But she is being given valium at her regular dosage again, 10 ml every hour to keep her calm until tomorrow. They had reduced her rate to 6 ml every hour. Since she has been on so much meds it will take about 4 weeks to wean her off her pain meds. Hopefully once she is successfully extubated tomorrow they can begin taking her off all her pain meds.

This is the first step in getting Alex out of this place. It has been almost 3 weeks since all this began and WOW!!! how time has gone by. She is still not 100%, she is physically weak but she is in good spirits. She laughed today when I told her that dad almost burnt the kitchen down...could someone please teach Dad how to cook without starting a fire. She will put her arm up in the air whenever any of us walk in the room so that we can give her a hug. She still has a long way to go once she is extubated tomorrow but we know that God will take care of her tomorrow and that she will be aggravating us all before we know it.
